AUDITIONS PICKED UP, THIS WEEK: Two, yesterday: a shifty-natured Greek Orthodox Priest (with a slavic accent) and a Precinct Captain at wits end with the two moron dectectives who work under him. And... Two, today: an old JUDGE, disclined to the dignity demands of his role (he drank on the bench and laid a liplock on a defendant in a hallway, prior to pronouncing sentence upon her (Alright, some auditions ARE better than others). And... A BUTCHER, who can raise the dead! Only, a friend accidently killed someone, and is being blackmailed by a cop, who also tries to extort free goods and services from me...and I get to remind him that Im a butcher for good reason. We were encouraged to extend the extortion scene beyond that which was written. After that, they just kept throwing more scenes at us, encouraging us to stretch those, too. It added up to some good scenework, that drew positive responses from those in attendance. My wielding of the F-word drew particular praise from one of the producers (I KNEW that would come in handy, someday; but there was never any convincing the nuns who schooled me of the words positive effect with potential employers). My scene-partners and I felt pretty good afterward. Damn good, in fact. Went out for coffee afterwards, and was poignantly reminded that a day of good auditions, and $3, will buy you a cup of coffee anywhere in this country! Its an ass-whipping from Fate that Ive ASKED for. Happy Friday, everyone!
