AUG 21-This Day in Beatles History: 1964-During the Beatles performance in Las Vegas, the show at the Convention Center had to be stopped twice to ask fans to stop throwing jelly beans onto the stage. The Beatles had said during previous interviews that jelly beans were among their favorite candies, but they never anticipated the avalanche that would eventually come their way. By the way, the top ticket price to see the Beatles in Las Vegas was $5.50....1966-On a rainy night in St. Louis during their final tour, the Beatles performed at Busch Memorial Stadium where tickets were priced at $5.00. Earlier in the day, the Beatles played a make up show in Cincinnati that had been postponed by rain. The show in St. Louis was performed during a heavy rainstorm. The adverse conditions during this concert only served to re-enforce the groups desire to stop performing live shows. During this final tour, the Beatles typically played just 11 songs at each show. The only current hit song they performed was Paperback Writer. The other 10 were all staples from their summer tours the previous two years...
