AURA is very pleased to announce the annual award winners for 2014. AURA Male Runner of the Year: Barry Loveday Barry completed three races in 2014: Narrabeen 12hr 149.8km, the third best distance by an Australian ever, Coburg 24hr 265.00km the second best performance by an Australian ever and the second best distance recorded last year in the world and lastly the Adelaide 48 Hour, 303.97km AURA Female Runner of the Year: Bernadette Benson Bernadette’s three races last year were truly outstanding. At Coburg 6hr she set an age group record with 74.93km, at Coburg 24hr her 238.261km was an Australian women’s open record, she followed this with the Sri Chinmoy 12hr recording 133.535km, another Australian women’s open record. AURA Rising Star: Blake Hose Blake had two great races last year, second place in Bogong to Hotham in the third best time ever and winning the Great Ocean Walk with a race record. Brian Smith Award: Barry Loveday, Coburg 24hr 265.00km The Bryan Smith Award is for the greatest single best ultra-running achievement by a male or female under the age of 60 at the time of the result being achieved. Cliff Young Award: Geoff Last, Sri Chinmoy 24hr 175.039km The Cliff Young Award is for the greatest single best ultra-running achievement by a male or female who was 60 years or older at the time of the result being achieved.
