AUSTRALIA............An island continent of sensational scenery,unique and diverse flora/fauna,vibrant clean green cities and many nations co existing comfortably.Consisting of 8 states and territories & a few scattered islands(Im not bothering to do any research so dont expect 100% accuracy..lol )with a population of 23million.In australia I have visited mostly the east coast which limits my ability to describe the whole country to you so I will start with what places I have been to.Starting from the furthest point north;from forbes down the eastcoast & across bass straight to tasmania.Ive seen places like forbes/bungendore/lakeburrinjuck/brindabellas/tidbinbilla/Mt.kosiozco/lakehume/Ballarat/lakeeildon/wilsonprom/grampians/apollobay/lakestclair/strahan...Visited cities;sydney/batemansbay/wagga wagga/a.c.t/melbourne/geelong/hobart/launceston.....Highlights being...the flora-fauna in n.s.w/a.c.t/vic/especially tasmania,.....the beaches,coasts and towns of n.s.w/tas especially victoria,.....the fine people in all states particularly a.c.t/tas/vic...the art & music in tas/n.s.w especially victoria.There arent many places like australia that offer an incredible array of camping,fishing,bushwalking,sightseeing wonderlands in relative isolation that appear timeless and within close proximity(skiing/snowboarding also but I dont like the extreme cold so have elected to not discuss it...lol)..There are many dangerous venomous species that include;sydfunnelwebspider-inlandtaipan-blueringedoctopus-coneshell-boxjellyfish-stonefish-fireant-canetoad although you have to be quite careless to be bitten/stung if your poking around in there habitat...The laws that govern are based upon an egalitarian concept(belief in equal political,social,economic and civil rights for all people).If you threaten/harm or do any wrong towards others or cruelty to animals~depending upon the severity rightfully u get penalised~incarcerated.We celebrate easter, xmas,anzac day and respect others important dates of remembrance/celebrations and expect the same in return,we are extremely proud of our WWI/II and all battle history,current serving adf,pioneers,explorers,innovators,educators&inventors...The continent is located on a single tectonic plate so earthquakes are minor if they do occur in urban areas(newcastle our worst to date). Bushfire/flood/drought/pestplagues,(pedestrians)-countrywide and the occassional cyclone which mainly happen in the top half of the country on the coasts are our main concerns.....Our national anthem is;"Advance australia fair" & our international icons are:Ellemacpherson,Paulhogan,Gregnorman,Kylieminogue,Rupertmurdoch,Olivianjohn,Ginarinehart,Hughjackman,Harrykewell,Norm the kangaroo(dec.)and the"dame lady"Edna(aka;LadyBaz/barry).lol....Our international adopted icons Nedkelly(an outlaw persecuted for protecting his family)Pharlap-Blackcaviar(champion racehorses)Julianassange(voted most influential humanbeing2013)Johnfarnham(singer).Our explorers-pioneers Douglasmawson(antarctica)burke&wills(centralaus)Howardflorey(medicine)Banjopatterson(poetry)Prohart/Weg(art)norm(80s fitness ambassador)skippy(70s tv icon kangaroo).....Our sporting heroes Donbradman/Dennislillee(cricket)Dawnfraser(swimming)Vorogue (championracehorse)Rodlaver-Margaretcourt(tennis),Cathyfreeman(athletics),Teddywhitte(afl),Wallylewis(nrl).....The national sport if your in n.s.w/qld/majority a.c.t is(rugby league~n.r.l)or in tas/wa/sth aust/vic and minority a.c.t it is(australian rules~a.f.l)with tennis-cricket-soccer-basketball-athletics the other popular sports.Weather varies considerably with a.c.t/tas the coldest I have witnessed at-4c and vic/n.s.w the warmest at 45c depending upon the season with a few exceptions considering location.....Terminology;#1more useful than tits on a bull!(to describe a person who wouldnt be of help in any giving situation)....#2keep an eye out for Noahs arks(to watch out for sharks) ....#3I need a snakes hiss....(I need to take a number1or piss)....#4pass the dead horse!(pass the tomato sauce)....#5fire up the barbie(prepare the bbq)....#6like a stunned mullet(to describe a person who is motion less or non responsive/catatonic)#7hard as a mallee bull or rough as nails(strong and resilient)....#8mate/cobber(friend)dunny(toilet)bluey(redhaired person)coldie(beer)joeblake(snake)esky(portable fridge)struth(omg)reg grundies(undies)galah(silly person)the sticks(the bush)....#9happier than a pig in shit(a person who is in there element and content)....#10like a fish out of water(a person who is lost or out of there element).......nonsense time:Being once a part of Gondwana land this epic"wonder"continent had an inland sea and mega fauna roamed its vastness...Indiginous people tell stories of the"dreamtime"and have survived for 40000yrs+....Being considered by other nationalities as the"ass end of the world"(Our humour tolerates & toys with it!..lol).New Arrivals had come from a convict heritage up until the early 1900s(and some were convicted for trying to survive by taking a piece of bread so it had its brutality at the time).When you consider this they were scorn with contempt,were resourceful/desperate & resiliant>ideal pioneers & settlers...Probably explains our fortitude & sense of fun-humour.With its rich resources,huge expanse and relative safety from most major natural disasters(Earthquake/cyclone/tsunami).........Australia trully is one of the worlds wonders......Keep the flag design or change it?.....
