Australians will soon be charged a $6 co-payment to visit their GP in a move set to be included in the Abbott government’s first budget. In an exclusive this morning, The Australian announced the co-payment would be capped at 12 visits, meaning a maximum total spend of $72 a year for patients. The aim of the payment is to save $750 million over the next four years. Savings from the co-payment will be put back into the Health sector.
