AUSTRALIAN MELANOMA RESEARCH There is a great deal of fantastic research coming out of Australia and melanoma patients across Australia make an enormous contribution to the efforts of amazing scientists, clinicians and researchers across the country. MPA members participate in initiatives to raise funds for research, participate in clinical trials, complete surveys, comment on research proposals, give feedback... the list is endless because there are so many ways to be involved. We are regularly approached by patients wanting to contribute to research - as a participant or to fundraise - and we urge people to consider what it is they want to support and how they want to get involved. There are so many fantastic researchers across Australia from the major capital cities to regional centres (who are often less known but just as impressive). It is amazing when you go looking just how many dedicated researchers there are working in the field of melanoma and on a variety of different aspects - prevention, detection, treatment, management, quality of life, genetics etc. As a melanoma community, we are fortunate to have many of the best minds in Australia on our team. We are continually hearing about new Australian research and some of our members may not have heard about the recent journal article in Cancer Discovery detailing findings from the Peter McCallum Cancer Centre team regarding the role of glucose and melanoma, as well as discussion on melanoma generally and combination therapies. We have included the link below for you to access if you havent read the findings. Today, we say thank you to the role of terrific teams of melanoma researchers from across the country (and indeed the world). And no less important, we say thank you to YOU for the role you play in melanoma research. Working together we can achieve anything!
