AVOCA Under 7 Gold Match Report: First Big thank you to all parents for the support, assistance and encouragement during filming this morning. Fox Sports were present to watch a struggle against the two form U7 teams in Avoca with Green Vs Gold. The wet conditions were relished by both sides and despite the rain the kids demonstrated good ball control. Christian Neil constantly followed the play in attack and defence and was rewarded with a decisive try in the first half. Jack Lafferty enjoyed running the opposition from side to side attempting to find his way to the try line. Kaden Morgan and Harper Moran were again brilliant in defence taking responsibility to pick up any line breaks and Kaden’s effort at tackling (despite attempting tag) will put him in good stead as his ear marks Brooke first grade position. Lily Corcoran again listen intensely to defensive strategies and made a brilliant run up the sideline to score her first try of season, well done Lilley. She was well supported by Sam Corcoran and Angus Stewart, who followed the play looking for try scoring opportunities. Benjamin Alton and Daniel Wind continue to impress with their elusive running style holding the ball in both hands and looking for gaps in the defence. Possible ball players of the future. Lucas had a great straight run concentrating on yards gained rather than time with the ball and his ability to read the game continues to improve rapidly as he can position himself well with defence. Jessie Fibbens made three great runs with significant metres gained, fatiguing the opposition and was the player of the week. Harrison Lafferty continues to make improvement with his running and tieless effort for tagging and despite fatigue and the need for an injection of sugar pushed through the second half and received the encouragement award for the week. In the end Gold were beaten by a strong and well drilled Avoca Green side, despite Gold noticing that the All Black coach of the green did slip a $20 to the referee at full time. Final score was a draw Gold 2 V Green 7. Thanks again parents.
