AWESOME CLUB MEMBERS RESILIENCE I am forever in awe at the strength and resilience of all our club children. This week a child fainted at a meeting, due to hunger, food is always given at meetings, but his pride would not allow him to ask…In another club a member, we discovered is living in a shack with rain pouring in onto all the makeshift beds, the family are constantly cold and sick….a team effort is being put together and funding provided to solve this problem. This week one of our Hout Bay club members mother was killed in a shack fire. A gas bottle was leaking gas, when the young Mum realised, it was too late, it exploded instantly and firemen could not get her out. What a tragic waste of a life, a young mother and supporter of her two children. As if life it isn’t tough enough for these township children, irrespective of what is happening in their lives, they still come to the club. Thank goodness, the club children have the support and love of their Rainbow family.. ….. It brings it home to us all, the need to encourage these children to work hard towards a better life. HOWEVER, as we know, when there is pain and sadness, so often comes joy and just when the Hout Bay club needs it the most, we have a new clubhouse. Thanks to the generosity of Disa High School. They have given us the use of a large, cosy, safe room on the school premises to meet in. No more sitting under a leaking roof….Yippee what a win….thank you Disa. So in spite of it all , all our members still sing, laugh and play… how lucky are we at Rainbow Dreams Trust… to be able to truly make a difference in these courageous children’s live
