AWSC team visits Hira Nagar Border areas. A team of Senior citizens of Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens (AWSC) visited the border area around Hira Nagar to meet and see the plight of people who have been displaced from their homes due to Pak. Firing across IB. The AWSC team including Vikram Gour Patron, BM Kohli Vice president, RC Gupta Gen Secy, Dr. TR Gupta, Prof. Abrol, Chander P Sharma, MS Jamwal, Mrs. Prof Abrol and Mrs. PR Sharma visited Higher Secondary School, Hira Nagar where migrants have been housed and enquired from them if they were being provided adequate help by the government. Sarpanch, Babia told AWSC that while adequate help is being provided by the administration yet it is not possible to sleep on cemented floors of the school without some thick covering on the floors in this extremely cold climate. The Sarpanch said, ‘The border population is most worried about frequent firing by Pak and with no permanent arrangement for the people on the border. Each time the borders are disturbed our families are dislocated. We leave our young girls with our relatives, young males are made to stay in houses on border to take care of the property and rest of the family along with infants and females stay in camps. The GOI has to find out a permanent solution to the entire problem. Separate permanent colonies for the border area residents have to be created in safer areas so that people enblock can move to safer places. We do not want to stay in schools and other educational institutions and be cause for disturbing our children’s education educational at this time of the year. AWSC promised to talk to the concerned authorities in the government in this regard and stress upon them to find out some permanent solution for the benefit of the border people.
