AXIS of EVIL I woke up this morning and could not but think about the thousands of desperate men, women, children and the old on a run going nowhere by abandoning their homes behind them to save them-selves from madmen- just like Cypriot refugees did in 1974. A new world-phenomenon has incubated an axis of evil and has unleashed a human virus that thrives on barbarism and mass killings. They move quickly like a cloud of locusts devouring land and people alike. As if mass brainwashed to commit evil, they are the Jihadists of the Islamic State. The organization is wealthy with over 1.5 billion Euros in their coffers; brutal, clever, cunning and will stop at nothing to get their way – for them dying for jihad is an honourable death. They have already devoured half of Syria and Iraq. At the threat of such a possible Armageddon the West continues to play politics and has failed to request the contribution of Russia to be a part of the coalition against this menace. Turkey on the other hand has been a reluctant player to go against the Islamic State and one wonders why? Should Cyprus worry? You bet! We are too close for comfort and the government will be much wiser to apply precautionary measures against the possible infiltration to the Republic by IS Jihadists. Since a good percentage of Jihadists are made up of Turkish nationals one would think that closing the crossings would be a good move to prevent the easy flow of Turkish nationals entering the Republic. Does our government have a plan we don’t know about to deal with such a menace and a threat? I surely hope so!
