AZONTO DANCE A resident of Ghana, West Africa, for three years, Diandra returns from her most recent visit with a rich collection of West African dance movements, including Ghana’s signature “pop” dance, the Azonto. Mixing electronic beats and rhythms from West Africa and the Caribbean, Azonto is a fusion of hip-hop, hip-life (contemporary African dance and music), dancehall, and traditional African dance. A lively, fun dance and musical style, the Azonto will make you sweat and smile. Dress comfortably, and wear gym shoes or go bare foot. Class will include a traditional and contemporary African warm-up, exercises, live drumming, and a cumulative choreography. ALL LEVELS WELCOME! Tuesdays 7-8:15 pm. Six-week workshop starts Nov 12. $10 for company members. $15 for general public. Discount of 10% for full six-week registration.
