Aam Aadmi Party successfully took out a protest march against the rising incidents of violence being committed against Dalits in Maharashtra. It is extremely sad that in Maharashtra, the state from which Babasaheb Ambedkar built the movement for Dalit empowerment, such crimes are going unpunished. We demand that the investigation into these murders be intensified and the culprits be tried in fast track courts, in order to ensure speedy justice. AAP has submitted these demands to the State police. The march was led by AAP leaders Subhash Ware, Anjali Damania and Gajanan Khatu at Chembur, Mumbai. This protest was AAPs attempt at bringing the fight against caste violence to the mainstream, as all other parties of Maharashtra have merely paid lip service so far. We hope it becomes a part of the mainstream discourse so that there is pressure on the Government to act fast and act tough.
