Aaniin, kina wiya. I was just curious about some things that we say in our village and I was wondering if other communities say these things or have equivalents. So one thing we say a lot is heyo sounding like hay [that a horse eats] -yo. This is something you would say when you dont believe somebody or think somebodys exaggerating. Example: Tim: I picked up that car with one arm John: Heyo. It kind of challenges what another person has said. I think Ive heard people from Manitoulin say Hey drawn out and used in a somewhat similar manner. Another thing you might hear is ii-se or sometimes just ii kind of drawn out, [the se sounding like sad without the d] and this is said about cold things as an exclamation. If you got cold water or snow down your back youd say ii-se! or if you saw somebody out in the cold without a jacket on you might say that to yourself. Any other similar words in other places? You wouldnt find them in a dictionary because they dont really have an english equivalent.
