Aasim Sajjad Akhtar, Punjab President of Awami Workers Party states at the joint protest against Peshawar attack held yesterday: Ye riyasat ki barbariyat hai. Ye Taliban shaliban ko main nahi manta, ye Fauj ke log hain. (This was state barbarity. I do not believe in the Taliban Shaliban. It was the people of the army). He goes on to state his opposition to military operations against the Taliban. Our own views are on the opposite side of this debate. We believe that gradually the army has been losing control over these assets that were at one time supported for jihad in Afghanistan & Kashmir and so on. And now everyone has become a target of these Taliban fascists. Taliban are not mere agents of CIA, RAW, ISI (as various conspiracy theories of the left & right argue) but are a indigenous fascist militia. Hence, everyone including political parties, civil society, progressives, state, society, every single individual of Pakistan needs to unite against the Taliban and defeat this fascist enemy. Such nation wide unity against the Taliban is real the need of the hour. What are your views?
