Abba Knows Best: Do you have a life? If you do, then watch Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno. You dont have a life? Well, then you must watch Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno! Best film of 2014! Captain Not-France:TWS and Guardians of selected planets only got nothing on this! Why did it blow Abbas mind? -Its Battousai the Slasher? Do you even ? The first installment of the live-action Rurouni Kenshin was decent, but not fantastic. But it showed the potential. The potential fulfilled in the sequel. The casting for Saito Hajime is hands-down the most accurate casting of any fictional character in a live-action segment. In this film, he got to bring out the intensity that follows his character like a shadow. Shishio Makoto appeared as the guy who has blaring foghorns overhead that screams BAD NEWS BAD NEWS RUN AWAY NOW. Very few antagonists can give you that vibe. Maybe its the makeup, maybe its the eyes, but it is the Shishio from the anime. -The fight choreography bothered me for the first few seconds as I tried to understand why all the henchmen were scrambling and getting cut down. Then I realized that its a perfect adaptation of the anime. The henchmen flail their swords about in frustration and get knocked out, but the important characters have duels where you can see their skills and the adrenaline rush allowing them to display their martial prowess. Each duel is jaw-dropping. -Have you ever watched a film and praised its score before anything else? This is that film. If the credits were not in Japanese, Id have looked up the composer. The Japs know how to make the best of any given moment. And in this film, every single frame. Whatever is going on-screen, gets more intense because of the score. People jump up and down Hans Zimmer, and hes nowhere near Philip Glass. This film puts the SICK in Music. From traditional stringed and wind instruments to a finale with hard rock, it knows what is best for us. (Can you buy film scores online?) -Shame on you for continuing to read this and not watching the film. 9/10, because theres a sequel which is going to take the 10/10 You want to make something out of your life but you dont have enough money to start a comic book shop, watch Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno.
