Abbott and Costello Peanut butter and jelly. Bogie and Bacall Mototorcyles and toy runs. Thanksgiving and turkey. Lady Gaga and Christmas. Lady Gaga and Christmas? I was watching the Today show today and heard an advertisement for their program of the lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center. They promoted it by listing the stars that will be performing at this gala event. I only heard the first two. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet. Im sure that Ms.Gaga is very talented and I know that Tony Bennet is. And I know that they both matter to God and I pray that they both have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Especially Mr. Bennet, as the odds are that he will meet God first. This is not to demean them. This is our society. We want a celebrity Christmas. We dont have a celebrity Savior. Luke 2:8-12 ESV And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” An angel of the Lord did not go to the King. They didnt go to mayor or the elite of society . They went to shepherds. Today they are called Bedouin. They are the lowest of the low on the middle east. And they werent any higher in the society that Jesus was born into. Yet, they are the first to be told the good news. And they leave their flocks to go to the filthy, foul smelling stable to see for themselves the Savior of the world. Their job was to never leave the flocks. They left. Their lot in life was never to enter the inner parts of the temple courts. They were ushered before God Himself. I dont know how their lives were changed. The Bible doesnt tell us. But I have never met anyone who has ever encountered Jesus and walked away unchanged. Their are either broken or hardened. But they are different. How about you? Lord, I pray today for those who do not call You Savior, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, King of Kings. I pray that You will send Your angels to them this Christmas to draw them to Yourself. I pray that toy runs and food given to people with out will show Your love and glorify You. For without You, we would perish. In Jesus Name. And when you look at Nativity Scenes this Christmas sesson, the wise men or Maji were not there. They wouldnt come until 2 years later. For He is Lord of all. The rich and the poor. The king and the servant.
