Abducted Schoolgirls: We are becoming the laughing stock of the world- Audu Ogbeh. What about our nieghbours? How much respect does Cameroun or Niger or Chad have for Nigeria now? And what level of diplomacy are we deploying to talk to these people to make sure that they don’t take refuge in their territories? If they have respect for Nigeria they won’t try it. I remember in 1983, when some Chadian trouble makers invaded Nigeria and killed a few soldiers, General Buhari pursued them on the orders of Shagari until they nearly seized Ndjamena, it was then the US started panicking that we were implementing a Ghadafi agenda. Not long ago I was discussing with general Buhari, on this issue and he said he’d wanted to give them a bloody nose because they had no business venturing into Nigeria to cause trouble. So when are we going to get tough? We are not a small country. Why should small neighbours do these to us and we pretend not to notice what is going on? When are we going to take tough measure against them? We are becoming the laughing stock of the world and it is very disturbing. For you the younger generation, if this trend continues, a day will come when our neighbours would walk in here, do what they like and go back in the guise of terrorism. They will seize part of our territory under the guise of terrorism and we simply make speeches and do nothing. These are very worrying trends and one needs to join Nigerians in bemoaning the tragedy of these girls, their parents and this country as a whole. We have got to take more drastic steps than we are taking because a situation where they invade our country, kill a hundred in Katsina, 215 in Birnin Kebbi, kill in Kaduna, Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa. In the case of Benue, chemical was used in a village killing 18 people and we cover it up with ‘Fulani herdsmen.’ But I think they are mercenaries being rented from our neighbours because some of them when they are caught, reveal they are of Arab origin. What is going on? Who is declaring war on Nigeria? - Chief Audu Ogbeh, former PDP chairman, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
