Abdullah ibn Abu Awfa reported: When Mu’adh returned from Syria, he prostrated in front of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet said, “What is this, O Mu’adh?” He said, “I went to Syria and I found them prostrating to their priests and bishops, so I wanted to do that myself for you.” The Prophet said, “Do not do so, for verily if I were to have commanded anyone to prostrate to another besides Allah, I would have commanded the woman to prostrate to her husband. By the one in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, a woman cannot fulfill her duty to Allah until she fulfills the rights of her husband.
