Abe Update! Look at the difference a few weeks makes!! Abe is healthy and ready for adoption!! For those who do not know his back story, we have included it below his adoption information! Abe is approx 8 months old, friendly, vaccinated, combo tested negative, and neutered. From observing him in his foster home, we think he would do best as an only cat or in a home with an experienced cat owner who can give him the time and patience needed for him to adjust to other cats. NJ only, he will not be transported a long distance. Hes currently being fostered in Central NJ. All inquiries can be sent to HomelessAnimalLifeline@gmail. A vet reference and home check will be required for adoption! Homeless Animal Lifeline (HAL) pulled Abe, an approximately 7 month old male cat, from Helmetta Regional Animal Shelter on 10/17/14. Abe was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia by the shelter vet. He needed immediate veterinary care to save his life and had already been in the shelter for almost two weeks. Our volunteers had Abe out of the shelter and admitted to a veterinary hospital within hours of learning his story. Our veterinarian diagnosed Abe with an Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) and a severe case of fleas. He was also underweight and not in very good condition for a serious, risky surgery. Abe stayed hospitalized for one week, receiving antibiotics and the extra care he needed. On 10/23/14, Abe was transferred to a surgeon we chose because of his experience with this specific surgery. Abe made it through surgery, despite the fact that his surgeon said this was the largest hernia of this nature he has ever seen. There were three assistants helping with the procedure to ensure Abes safety. Abe remained hospitalized until 10/27/14, when he was discharged and transported to his foster home. On 11/3/14, Abe had his stitches removed and was neutered. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit organization. If we deplete all of our funding on one animal, we cant help another or care for the special needs animals already in our system. Your ongoing support allows us to continue helping animals, just like Abe! Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Our volunteers have been serving our community and its animals since 2004. Your donations save lives. ONLINE: halrescue.org/ and click the gold donate button.
