Abel, Charles, Daniel, Henry, Isaac and Isaac A. Prince, all - TopicsExpress

Abel, Charles, Daniel, Henry, Isaac and Isaac A. Prince, all farmers/laborers born in Vermont, served in the 54th Massachusetts Infantry (Colored). They all survived the war. Charles and Daniel were the last to answer the final roll call, in 1913. Of the 82 African Americans credited to Vermont in this unit, at least 55 were born in the Green Mountain State. Of the more than 200 African Americans credit to Vermont, at least 95 were born there, a very significant number, considering there were only 709 Blacks enumerated in the State in the 1860 census.
