About. - The Broome Community No Gas Campaign is a coalition of concerned community members dedicated to stopping the proposed industrial development at James Price Point (Walmadan), north of Broome. Mission - To stop the proposed LNG refinery at James Price Point (Walmadany) just north of Broome, Western Australia. Description - The Campaign had its beginnings at a Non-Violent Direct Action Workshop in early 2010, which recognised the need for coordination and communication between the diverse range of organisations and individuals within the Broome Community fighting to stop the proposal. Since then, the Campaign has built strong relationships with those groups and individuals involved in the campaign: the Goolarabooloo people who have stood strong at the front line, other Traditional Owners from the region, Old Families of Broome, as well as established organisations Environs Kimberley, Save The Kimberley, Hands Off Country and The Wilderness Society. Building on those relationships, the Campaign played a vital role in the many successful delaying tactics and actions during 2011, coordinating and communicating across the community. It also played a key part in organising rallies and protest marches, newspaper and poster advertising, and giving strong support to the ‘Nowhere Else But Here’ Shire election campaign. The Campaign meets every Wednesday, usually 5pm, Lotteries House, Cable Beach Road East, Broome
