About 10 yrs ago we found ourselves passing by the Historic Cashtown Inn and stopped for lunch. I had the crab cake sandwich, Clare did not, and regretted it ever since. So for our 11th anniversary we returned so he could hopefully partake of what he missed. The Inn did not disappoint. We had a fabulous lunch and the crab cake sandwiches lived up to their reputation. Service was great, thank you Crystal. We also got to meet Jack Paladino, the current owner, who hails from Pittsburgh. This explained the Terrible Towel and Its a Great Day for Hockey, Penguins sign hanging in the Tavern. Just when you thought it couldnt get better than that. I said to Clare, I think I know that guy at the next table, he looks familiar. He turns around and starts staring to the point that I have to give him a kick to stop. The next thing you know hes got the smartphone and searching frantically. He says we know him from TV. Then pulls up a picture and I look and think, Yep thats him. So Clare has a chat with Jack and confirms and asks if he thinks this guy would mind giving an autograph. Jack says he is sure its ok. To my surprise, my husband goes for it and proceeds to do a meet and greet with Bill Clement famed Philadelphia Flyer and Broadstreet Bully. Also at the table was Mark Nesbitt of Ghosts of Gettysburg .Candlelight Walking Tours. Bill was very engaging, and to see two Canadians talking Old Time Hockey and Deep Woods Off commercials...it was priceless. And as Clare said, it was only the second time that he met an NHLer in a tavern setting and got his autograph...the other one was Wayne Gretzky.
