About 130 hours later I finally finished Xenoblade Chronicles. - TopicsExpress

About 130 hours later I finally finished Xenoblade Chronicles. Epic is not a word I like to throw around, but this game sure deserves it. Really wish it had come out for the PS3, because I see what it did under the Wiis limits, and can only imagine how much more it would have possibly done with the PS3s horsepower. I think one way to describe it would be a single player MMORPG/JRPG (as contradictory as that sounds, I know) that avoids, for the most part, the usual bugbears of their respective genres, while at the same time sticking to most of their conventions and making many seem, well, fresh. I guess presentation does count a lot. Even way late into the game I was still being amazed by new sights, characters, and combat still kept me interested. The story (again, for those whove played a lot of JRPGs your mileage may vary) is quite engrossing and has a few original ideas (or originally delivered at least) that makes it worthwhile to play all the way through. This is a game you do want to see how its going to end. Loveable cast, and all story scenes are voiced (you have your options of pretty decent British English dubbing or original Japanese track. Im a purist snob, mea culpa, so I stuck with Japanese and I enjoyed it to bits). For all you completionists out there, the game has a lot, and I do mean a LOT of extra content, just in the main campaign theres bucketloads, to pursue (side quests, relationships to develop amongst characters (not in a romantic sense), unique monsters to kill, collectables, achievements, etc), so the game can -really- keep you playing for quite a long while. Part of the reason I played for 100+ hours is because I was actually trying to squeeze the game of as much content as I could on my first ever playthrough. Dumb idea, but it was fun nonetheless. This isnt an in-depth review or anysuch. There are lots of those around in several websites that do a stellar job of saying why this game knocks it out of the park, I just wanted to give my impressions of why I loved it and share the joy of having FINALLY finished it. Its been a long, crazy ride, but its been a great one. If any of you have a Wii or a Wii U, I highly recommend this gem of a game. Cheers! Cant wait for the sequel, X. Will need to get a Wii U first, though...
