About 2,000 people were served a hot meal and presented with a gift, and a lucky few won a Christmas tree or a bicycle during Time in Destiny Christian Centers annual Christmas event at the Sanger Community Center on Saturday morning. Pastor Paul and Roxanne Zavala hosted separate groups of families filing through the Community Center, providing a holiday dinner, dessert and refreshments. Drawings were held in each session to award a donated bike to a youngster, and all children had the opportunity to pick out a toy. Valley Christmas Tree in Minkler donated 100 fresh live trees to be presented in a drawing. Radio station KMAK La Unika Mexikana (100.3 FM) broadcast live from the scene and provided live updates to the public. Lines of residents initially stretched from the Community Center all the way to the community pool and Wilson Elementary School, and remained steady throughout the morning.
