About 20 years ago a friend of mine doing a PhD on Kapiti island who had a Chinese mother and a father of European descent said that after several visits to China that China would not be happy until they had everything the West had and more! Over the last several days I have watched the same documentary twice on Al Jazeera all about the Chinese food problems. Believe me we have problems enough but as a consequence of watching this documentary you would never catch me going for a holiday to China except for the out of the way back block places as yet untouched by modern civilization! The amount of toxic chemicals used for almost everything is abominable. Never ever buy anything in the food line that comes out of China.
