About 4am on Sunday the 16th of November, 2014 the occupants of a Southview St residence in West Tamworth were awoken by the sound of smashing glass coming from the vicinity of their driveway. The victims looked out their window and saw two male youths in hoodies running from their driveway. Upon investigating the source of the noise the victims found that persons unknown had thrown a large rock through the drivers side window of their Holden Commodore sedan that had been parked with doors locked in the driveway of their residence. The victims ascertained the thieves had stolen a number of valuable items from the locked car including a $200 handbag, earings, a Pandora bracelet with numerous charms and a pair of prescription glasses. About 4:30pm on Saturday the 15th of November, 2014 two pushbikes and a scooter were stolen from the yard of a Margaret St, address by three youths. Prior to attending to take a report of that incident Patrolling police drove past the three young thieves and requested them to stop. However the youths sped off across the railway tracks into West Tamworth eluding police. However all three were well known to the patrolling police. Police subsequently ascertained the three youths were riding bicycles and a scooter identical to those stolen from the Margaret St address. About 9pm the same day a young female resident of a Green Street address and her mother returned home. The younger of the women went to the rear door of their house and observed signs of forced entry. She entered the house and was confronted by three youths in the process of stealing items from within their home. Two of the youths were well known to the victim. One of the young offenders is alleged to have struck the young victim in the head with an Xbox before all three ran out the front door of the residence. Police were called and investigations commenced. About 9:30am on Sunday the 16th of November, 2014 police were patrolling Kenny Drive, West Tamworth when a concerned resident informed them of two youths were acting suspiciously in Lambert Street. Police attended that location and located two youths, one of which was one of the offenders nominated for the string of incidents depicted above. Police arrested the 15yr old youth at the scene. The youth attempted to pull away from and resist police before being conveyed to Tamworth Police Station. He was subsequently found to be in possession of a stolen mobile phone. The youth was charged with Larceny of a pushbike from the Margaret St address, Aggravated Break Enter and commit serious indictable offence from the Green St address, Goods in Custody in relation to the phone (which was returned to its owner) and Resisting Police in the Execution of Their Duties. The youth was bail refused and is to appear at the Tamworth Childrens Court, Monday the 17th. Enquiries are continuing in relation to the other youths involved. Neil Longworth Sergeant.
