About 70 people gathered for a solidarity multifaith fast today, including Jihad Abu Salaam who spoke about his family in Gaza. He lived through Operation Cast Lead, Operation Pillars of Clouds. For Operation Protective Edge, he feels far away from his family and is missing them terribly and deeply worried. Still suffering trauma from the ongoing siege of Gaza, and the third mass bombing, Jihad asked us to work harder to end the terrible blockade, to open the borders, to let Gaza live. Rev. Phil Lawson, Rev. Michael Yoshii, Rabbi David Cooper, Dr. Hatem Baziem, Taya Shere, Rev. Phil McGarvey spoke to the circle of concerned people. We broke into smaller circles to share our stories and concerns. Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb organized the event and hosted the evening. We broke the fast at 8:31PM
