About ARVIN. Dear Community: Heres how I understand things…. There has still been no sign whatsoever of Arvin. Im told by Dep. Jesse Villasenor that every trail has been scoured at least 3 times. Some areas of high interest even more. Yesterday was a HUGE push, with helicopters, dogs, SAR and volunteer teams (including teenage Explorers!) from multiple counties. The area was divided up into assignments, and every team was given an assignment to complete. Basically half their assignments were done before dusk yesterday, and then completed through the day today. As each team completed the investigation of its area, they were brought back to the Command Center, and were heartily fed by our community (thank yous to follow). I am told that for the most part the search is ending. The Command Center is packing up. However there will still be some ongoing efforts: Today a volunteer in one of the teams (whose name I dont know) was injured. Possibly a broken leg. That person had to be lifted out. That teams assignment was therefore not finished. Tomorrow there will be a team going out to complete the investigation of that area. Also, Dep. Ben Payton informed me that information collected by all the teams (pictures, GPS coordinates, I dont know what all) will be being pored over by the SAR & MoCo Sheriffs Dept., ongoing. If ANYTHING with any seeming promise appears, they intend to investigate further. Before I sign off - Thanks to all the people who stepped up to take care of the Powers that Be who put themselves out there to take care of us, when incidents like this happen. Todays meal for the teams & volunteers was provided by Carl Shadwell of Ripplewood Resort (a special thanks for doing the shopping and making the decisions for those of us who dont know how to feed that many people!), Matt Glazer of the Roadhouse, Riverside Campground & Cabins, Fernwood Resort, Big Sur, California, and likely some others (still TBD). Ill throw a shout out when all the voices are heard. Wherever Arvin is, whatever is to happen next…. He is loved, and this community has been showing that. And in the doing, are also showing love for each other and for those who are here to help.
