About CNN: Earlier this evening, my daughter shared a thought. Quizzically she remarked, ...why are a lot of people upset over CNNs reporting of our relief efforts? Its a sentationalist News Network but attempts to positions itself as a credible one for palatability. What do people expect from them? Its true! CNN became so after Ted Turner sold it and it started to go after ratings big time. Their slant on the news since then was to sensationalize it. Remember for a time they even had a news segment they humbly called The Best News Team on TV or something to that effect? Now, a lot has been said in the Social Media about Anderson Cooper and the manner of CNNs reportage over the Leyte situation. I decided to approach it with an open mind. I went to the Web and checked out how others, worldwide, are reporting this. To name some, i checked out PBS of the States, BBC, Channel News Asia, Spanish, German news, any english language news from various countries I could find as well as comments made by officials of the U.N. and other NGOs. I concluded that in a hypothetical situation where CNN did not exist, save for a few people with their own agendas, we would all view the relief efforts being undertaken with a much kinder eye. Personally, for quite sometime now, Ive decided to go for substance- BBC over glitz- CNN as my well for TV News.
