About Kalabharathi: The Kalabharathi Foundation for Indian Culture and Heritage is a pioneer organization of the state, born out of the vision - “New India, Cultural India” with a good experience in the educational and cultural sectors of the state . Since inception Kalabharathi has been working with great zest to promote, propagate and popularize the rich tradition of Indian Heritage and Classical Arts amongst various sects of society, with special focus on youth. As a highly innovative step, Kalabharathi has introduced Art training programs at various campuses in association with many arts and educational institutions across Kerala. These courses are designed and developed professionally to benefit the young aspirants transforming themselves to skilled individuals, enabling them to fit into the fast moving global scenario. Within this short span of time, Kalabharathi has associated itself with 76 integral campuses/educational institutions of the state and implemented the said course in Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom and Indian Classical music. We have presently classes in 16 centers with 300 students on roll. The curricula and study materials have been prepared systematically by our Academics and Research wing. The Department of Skill Development, Kalabharathi has designed educational programs aimed at transforming the students into massive assets by developing their communication skills, confidence and personality. This program was initiated two years back and we have already trained around 20,000 students in 150 educational institutions, government and other organizations. So far Kalabharathi has conducted more than 50 workshops on art forms at various centers in Kerala, involving internationally acclaimed resource persons, which was well appreciated and attended by many art enthusiasts and aspirants. We have also printed and published books in the art and cultural arena.. Kalabharathi Publication has published 5 books on classical arts and 1 book on spoken English aimed at empowering the students with good communication skills. Kalabharathi is also involved in conducting festivals and programs, in a wider scale. We celebrated World dance day, Tagore jayanthi- 150TH birth anniversary of Sri. Rabindranath Tagore, in association with Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy with dance productions of poems, having relevant social messages. We has just successfully conducted a national level young dance festival at three major venues of Kerala-Thrissur, Calicut and Trivandrum. The National Young Dance Fest was the first of its kind in the state which was aimed at promoting and encouraging young talented artists from all over India and selected 29 participants showcased their talents in six classical dance forms of the country.i.e. Kuchipudi, Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Kathak and Manipuri. Recently, a documentary festival ‘panorama of supremos’ was conducted in association with Central film division, Mumbai in which selected 16 documentaries of the legendaries in the field of dance and music was screened. Besides, we promote art journalism and photographies, for which an exclusive art photography exhibition was conducted in the month of April, 2013. Kalabharathi has launched “AshrayaNidhi” a veteran artist welfare program, aimed at providing financial assistance to aged and economically weak artists, for their well being. The program was officially inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for labour of Kerala, Sri. Shibu baby john on April 26th at Thrissur. Kalabharathi also has a green campus located at the state cultural capital, thrissur with an inhouse auditorium, which is a creative space for showcasing artistic talents, in a regular monthly basis. The campus is a nest for artists to come together and conduct their rehersals, choreographies etc. with 3 guest rooms, providing them to spend their cultural vacations. Besides there is library with a collection of more than 1000 books. Specialised assistance is given for research aspirants in the field through our resource persons.
