About The Seventh Messenger - Despan Kwardem The Players NANKYER: the odds to effect a change in her society were stacked against her. First, shes young – just 14; and then shes a girl (not recognised as anything in her male dominated chauvinistic society). But the divine ordinance has chosen her as the Seventh Messenger, a title that has been, in the eyes of Jigo tradition, the exclusive reserve of men since Jigos existence. And with that title comes the ominous responsibility to create a new order. Nankyer rose against her pessimism, braved her rejection and conquered her fears to journey to the world of the dead where she finds the Parchment of Tambes – the instrument of her authority – and returns to change an age-long custom and establish a new order in Jigo. BOSUN: At first, he was Nankyers lover. But he succumbed to the power of self-ambition and the manipulation of his father to become her arch enemy. He severed his friendship with Tuwan and went to the greatest length to destroy Nankyer, just to preserve his chance of becoming the next Jigolo (King) of Jigo. DADET: Jigos Chief Hunter and a member of the Council of Daas, Dadet is also one of the Seers of Jigoland. They are the custodians of Jigo traditions and the protectors of its ancient arts. He stuck to what he believed. Dadet chose the path of honour and fought the very tradition they are called to uphold in order to preserve the belief that the gods have the ultimate say in the affairs of men. GWOL: Jigos Chief Warrior and a fellow member of the Council of Daas, he swore to uphold Jigos customs and traditions with his life. He arrogated to himself the power to interpret and uphold Jigos customs and traditions. And by his estimation, Nankyer could never be the Seventh Messenger! He would do anything to stop her from being crowned as the Seventh Messenger even if he had to violate the very tradition he is fighting to uphold. DARLONG: a perpetual drunk who never ceases to amuse the Jigolo, hes the only surviving man in Jigo who could interpret the ancient hieroglyph (the Parchment of Tambes). Would he defy tradition and pitch his tenth with Nankyer to bring about a new order or would he collaborate with Gwol and his forces to continue to hold Jigo in perpetual subservience?
