About math, anonymously posted: _______________ My oldest daughter will be 7 at the end of the month. Maybe its the back to school buzz all over the place, or maybe its just that she has formed an idea of what school is about (weve never done lessons of any kind), but whatever the reason, she is interested in doing formal lessons now. Im wondering if this is more of a desire for her and I to connect one-on-one each day. (I also have 5 and 2-year old daughters.) Im happy to set aside time every day for us to work on something together, but how do I approach this as an unschooler? She has asked about doing math. Should I buy some kind of program for us to focus on? I am totally okay doing this even if she decides shes done with it after one week. My biggest concern is turning her off or discouraging her from learning about any subject, so Im treading very carefully and cautiously. Many thanks for any thoughts you can share.
