About our team... A little history about our CEO & founder. Al-Hassan Bakarr-Kanu sr was born in freetown Sierra Leone on April 29th 1977, when he turned 2 his mom journeyed to the states looking for a better life for herself, him and the family. In 1986 as a 9 year old boy his mom sent for him to join her, he faced hard times and prejudice based on his race and accent as a young Sierra Leonean but he perceivered. Even at a young age living in Boston Ma watching the news he wondered why their was not enough people of color represented in media and he decided to do something about it when he got older. In 1998 when he was in college him and a friend teamed up and started doing club nights, at this time he also created a company called Mama Africa Productions and and in 2002 Salone Bor Bor Entertainment which was to bring media and entertainment to and for the African community. In 2005 he got an opportunity to have his own radio show on a local fm station. The show was called the African Radio Show, it became highly popular he had the opportunity to interview Massachusetts current Governor in 2008 when President Obama was running as a candidate. With all this he still wanted to have an option for all Africans world wide. In 2006 he created African Radio Online The BIG Voice Of Africa & African Media. At this time internet radio was just beginning and friends and family told him it will not work especially for and in the African community. Today African Radio Online is one the most well known and well recognized media companies and radio stations. The station has helped many African artists to get them known and has interviewed many big names and reached millions of listeners in over 80 countries and currently has over 10 franchise stations. In 2011 him and a friend Mr. Cameron Hairston created VoiceKast which is an online website and software which allows you to have and do live tv broadcasting, they are responsible for bringing SLBC live abroad via internet.
