[About scarve edge] Today, I talk a little bit about the techniques of scarves! When you look at the selvedge of scarves, you can know how was it made. ucou scarves are woven by shuttle loom machine. Shuttle loom weaving is a traditional method of weaving that utilizes a shuttle to insert the filling yarn through the shed (opening of warp yarns) to produce a desired weave. This weaving construction produces a woven the entire width of the material which is what creates the finished edges. Now shuttle loom machine is out of favor because of its speed. But at the same time, people who try to keep this technique is certainly existed because its texture could become really soft and could use extremely fine natural fibers thanks to slowly woven machine. Our artisan, Mr. Muto (Muto Co., ltd) always admires this way. Trying to keep using shuttle loom machine, so as to keeping texture softly and having beautiful selvedge, even if shuttle loom is much take time to weave and difficult to find out the weavers.
