About seven years ago I found a forum for Disney loving, sewing people. The group ranged from new mothers learning to sew for the first time for their babies to experienced grandmothers sewing for a second generation, with everything in between. People were developing applique, embroidery, accessory creation and quilting skills. Some even began creating their own patterns! Everyone was encouraged to Copy and Steal Everything, to share the love of Disney to their own family. Over the years the interests of the group expanded--many became involved in a charity arm that makes custom outfits and accessories for families going on Wish trips. Some have become created a side group interested in fitness. Others in natural living. Friendships across states have blossomed and flourished. Through the years Ive seen individuals grow not only in their sewing and crafting skills, but in their lives, and watched as this group has supported members through serious need, or pain, or celebrated many of lifes joys. One of the highlights of our trip to Florida was meeting a few of these friends in person for the first time. I cant describe how strange it was to know these ladies, to know their childrens names and so much about them, to have followed along through ups and downs of their lives the past few years, and finally see and hug them in person. It was amazing. I was only sorry that 4 times as many of us couldnt have made the meeting! But there will be other opportunities--and I fully intend to be there for them. Thank you, ladies, for making this happen.
