About the Ebola Victim post I put up the other day, saying it was foolish to bring someone with Ebola to the US, that the consequences could be an epidemic of catastrophic proportions. I was talking to my dad last night (not a doctor but pre-med) and I took away the following things: 1 - The CDC wasnt formed yesterday. These are the top docs of the world, and they know what theyre doing. 2 - The victim is himself a doctor, and knows fully what the implications could be if ebola broke out in Atlanta. 3 - Ebola isnt an airborne virus. Youd need bodily contact to catch it. It is not very hard to contain in a developed country, if it is closely monitored. and of course, the big one I didnt even think of... 4 - The CDC doubtlessly has stuff there that makes ebola look like a case of the springtime sniffles in comparison. And those horrible things are safe from us while they are on the watch. Again, theyre the best of the best. I apologize to any friends I may have offended posting that bullshit, which was alarmist and poor understanding on my part. Especially to Daniel Holton and Sophie Wright, who know the doctor personally. It was an ill-advised post and I need to keep my sizeable yap shut about stuff I dont understand.
