About the dog Lucy! You have probably noticed that I did not post anything about our new dog, Lucy, for almost a week. After her 1st outside walk we noticed that she had a problem peeing on the grass (tiny amounts in many places). First we thought that it was nervous reaction but after after seeing dark yellow urine on the light carpet and on the floor we knew that it was more than her behavior. It looked like she was hurting during the process and associated the grass with that. Between Beata and I we walked her in total approximately 3-4 hours per day, and having done little if anything outside she peed in the house usually just minutes after bringing her in. Lucy came to us for a 1 week trial and we were required to take Lucy to the adoption agencys doctor, since agency was responsible for paying for all the medical bills and we needed their approval for any treatment and tests. We really believe it was not a behavior problem since we had a few dogs and many cats before and we know that dark urine is the indication of a problem, sometimes a serious one. We know that Lucy was an abused dog and had hernia surgery (possibly she was kicked and we dont know what the effects of this could have also done to her.) A blood test showed possibility some allergic reaction and in the urine was a high glucose content. The second urine test was negative. The doctor told us more tests needed to be done to determine Lucys problem and that would cost a fortune and possibly not help her. The agency did not approve any more testing and picked up Lucy earlier today thinking that maybe it was behavior. Maybe they are right. We had her for less than a week and already miss her. Lucy was a precious little lovable girl, and did well with the cats. We wanted to adopt her and she would have had a wonderful home however sometimes things do not come out as originally planned. Thank you all for reading this.
