About to embark on a holiday adventure -- I will be off the old Facebookarooney for a few days. To the wilds of the North I go, and Im not promising anything, but I may pop in with some smart-alecky semaphore courtesy of these phone-typing fingers. Perhaps I never sleep, but I manage to dream, and o! This will be a dreamy drive. So…before taking a nap and getting on a bus that resembles an energy drink, I will leave you with a late-night packing song, a song that suits the lean hour of 6 AM. Why, some of you might even call this morning! When I hear The Velvet Underground, I feel the way the streets were when I was a kid. The colors, the clothes, the hungover masses, the signs. The wigs. The canopies of acid rain, the barber pole stripes, the candy shops on ancient gray brick corners, buildings of Gotham, eyes of Golgotha, ebony skin and pizza fumes. The tall people, they had it, they had everything. It was a Golden Age. Golden people wore go-go boots, pimp hats, the finest flares. Life was fueled by teevee and factory sirens that made me think there was an air raid. Thighs and liberation-smoke-signals: My East.
