About to finish with the last few deliveries & head home to shower & change clothes for my moms 6:30 retirement dinner that her co-workers are giving her. This is a milestone in mothers life & Im going to be there to celebrate with her. My mom has been an educator since 1976 (I believe) & Friday will be her last day working with the St. Louis Public Schools. She was my first & most consistently effective teacher. I tip my hat to her & honor all of the positive contributions thats shes made for decades. She was the biggest influence on me deciding to do the type of work that Ive done for more than a decade. She told me that being an educator doesnt pay much, but the thanks that you get for positively impacting the lives of others is the greatest pay check youll ever receive. She taught me early on & laid down a foundation that I was able to build on. For this, Ive forever grateful.
