About two weeks ago the Nigerian government in their characteristic mannerism rush to the press to declare another gaffe called ceasefire with Boko Haram. It turned out, as usual, a ruse and another news of deception from a failing government that lacks character and quality. For years, I have read that no serious government negotiate with terrorists. This is usually adopted as a state policy for serious nations like US and UK. As events after 911 have clearly shown the emerging security threats and clearly revealed that terrorism built on the logic of religious fanaticism can hardly be addressed by the gimmick of carrot of ceasefire of any guise. In all corners of the world where terrorism is propelled by the ideology of religious fanaticism the only language that can put an end to it is the potency of the military power. I was, therefore surprised that despite the claim of pool of academic experts on terrorism and insurgency and Nigerian army infallible myth, the government, its advisers and its military strategists can take a bait of negotiating a ceasefire with soulless murdering group hiding under the peaceful religion. Now lets advise our leaders that it is only insurgency that is driven by nationalistic motive or sentiment that can be negotiated. Self determinism group who feel alienated and marginalised can also be negotiated. Therefore, it is practically impossible to negotiate with a terrorist and I think government must rearmed its military to deal with this murderous group. .
