About two years ago, Visit Orlando and our 1,200-company - TopicsExpress

About two years ago, Visit Orlando and our 1,200-company membership vowed to woo Brazilian visitors like never before. Since early last year, we placed a significantly increased focus on Brazil, with representation inside the country, strong partnerships with tour operators and airline partners, advertising, public relations and promotions. Thanks to our Orange County partners and members that supported our strategy of making Brazil a priority, we anticipate Brazil to remain our largest overseas market for Orlando. A nice example of that effort producing increased benefits to our community occurred this past week , when Orlando welcomed daily, nonstop flights to Orlando International Airport by Azul, one of the largest airlines in Brazil. It was a milestone event for our community. The low-cost carrier offers extra legroom, free live television and roundtrip tickets from about 60 miles outside downtown São Paulo for as little as $888, contributing to the fact that virtually every 270-person flight from Brazil to Orlando is fully booked through May, according to Azuls president. As Azul plans to expand its operations from secondary Brazilian cities in the future, Visit Orlando will continue to leverage its strong tourism partnerships to ensure that our destination enjoys the benefits of a significant share of service, continued investment in our destination and a long-lasting romance with our No. 1 overseas market
