Above Only Daily Devotional cgmglobal.org/aboveonly/today.php (Lire en français: cgmglobal.org/devotional/fr) Thursday, Mar 20 JEHOVAH YOUR REREWARD Isaiah 52:12, Isaiah 58:8 for ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward. *Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. -------------------------------------------------------------------- When our text above says you will not go out by flight, it is talking about not being afraid or trying to escape. In the Good News Bible, that verse (Isaiah 52:12) says “this time you will not have to leave in a hurry; you will not be trying to escape. The LORD your God will lead you and protect you on every side. The term rereward in the King James Version of the Bible is the same for rear guard in other versions like the New International Version (NIV) and it refers to how God protects us from behind (the rear) and from things that we are not even aware of. This is why there is no armour that extends to our back. God Himself is taking care of our backs for us. He is taking care of things that you and I do not and may never even know about. We do not have to be afraid of the unknown or of tomorrow because we serve the God that knows all things, holds tomorrow and He loves us with an everlasting love. All we need to do is keep trusting Him and following His leading. Because He is the omnipresent God, He can be at our front (leading us) and at our back (protecting us) at the same time. One of the ways God protects us is by leading us. This is why we must keep following His leading. We may not know what we are being saved from by being obedient to God and His Word. Let Gods Word continue to be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. Let God light your candle (your spirit) with His Word, Psa.18:28. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your paths, Prov.3:5-6. PRAYER FOCUS: Cast all your cares upon God today and declare that you are safe because God is guarding you on all sides and you are following His leading.
