Abraham is known as the father of faith. Not because he pretended - TopicsExpress

Abraham is known as the father of faith. Not because he pretended to believe God, but because he believed God “anyway”. Let me explain. Just because we attend church on Sunday, dress nice, speak well, pray the proper prayers, it doesn’t mean we really believe God. It just means we know church. The church needs less people faking it, and more people “faithing it”. The scriptures teach us to walk by faith and not by sight. We fake it when we try to please other people, or God, pretending to live super holy on the outside, but are really without faith on the inside. Faith causes us to please God by acting like the person we are going to be through Him. Abraham was a man who was not perfect by anyone’s standards. But Abraham was willing to trust God. What has God told you He was going to do for you? What promised inheritance has He placed in your spirit? Regardless of your circumstances right now, have faith that God does not lie. He speaks what He knows, because he sees it. When God told Abram that he would be the father of many, God wasn’t making a prediction; He was looking into the future and telling Abram what He saw. God is telling you what He sees for you. Only God can speak into existence those things that do not exist. - Terrence Roberts – excerpted from “The Chosen People”
