Abraham`s Blessing Are Mine .… Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham 9 “So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham” (Galatians 3:7&9). The word “with” is used as a function word to indicate a participant in an action or transaction. This infers that everything God promised Abraham belongs to us; and whatever God did in the life of Abraham, he will duplicate in our life. Hallelujah!!! Abraham’s blessing is our inheritance. But in order to fully grasp what is rightfully ours, it is vital we study the life of Abraham and find out how God treated him, because that’s how God has promised to treat us. Abraham came on the scene in the twelfth chapter of Genesis, when God told him to abandon everything in Ur of the Chaldess and move to a land he was going to show him and pronounced the blessing upon him, saying (Genesis 12:2-3): I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. You see, when God blesses someone, he confers upon him the power to increase and prosper in every area of life. God said to Abraham… “I will bless the”, meaning “I will cause or empower you to prosper”. The blessing of God made Abraham rich! It caused him to prosper wherever he went. Remember, when he went to down to Egypt because of famine, Abraham — out of fear for his safety — asked Sarai, whom scriptures labelled very beautiful, to identify herself as his sister, which is indeed not a lie, because Sarai was Abraham’s half sister. They had the same father, but different mothers (Gen. 20:12). However, religion has taught us that Abraham lied. No he did not; he told the truth, but not the whole truth. Scriptures declare that Abraham came out of Egypt … extremely rich in livestock and in silver and in gold (Genesis 13:2 Amplified). Note that the word extremely connotes exceeding the norm: Abraham and his nephew, Lot, who was part of his entourage had to part ways… for their possessions were too great for them to live together” Genesis 13:6 Amplified). As this scenario played out, Abraham wasn’t greedy neither did he fuss about his own wellbeing. He understood he had a covenant of blessing with God and that God would cause him to succeed no matter where he lived. He said to Lot (Genesis 13: 9-11, Amplified Bible). Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself, I beg of you, from me“If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you choose the right hand, then I will go to the left. And Lot looked and saw that everywhere the Jordan Valley was well watered…. Then Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley… Besides financial prosperity, God`s blessing also made Abraham an overcomer… It made him more than a conqueror. Recall God said… “I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you”. Whereas, bless connotes empowered to bless, curse is the opposite or reverse; it denotes empowered or caused to fail. Genesis 14 gives a narrative of how four kings formed an alliance and came against Sodom and Gomorha. They took Lot and his family captive. When word got to Abraham the Hebrew, about his nephew, Genesis 14:14-16… He armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued…and smote them…. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people. Imagine that. Abraham and his servants single-handedly whipped four kings and their armies, then recovered everything and everyone they had taken captive! What gave Abraham the boldness to go after those kings? Abraham knew he had a covenant with God. He knew God had promised to be an enemy to his enemies, and he dared to act on that promise. Abraham understood that God was God! Abraham took God at His Word when He said, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1).....
