Abrahams story begins with the journey forth, and winds down with him sending his servant back to the land of his birth to choose a wife for Isaac (Gen 24). Isaac, of course, cant go there. As we read the story this year, I find myself in the strange position of having sent my own child to the Old Country, a place Ive not yet been myself. And tomorrow, Shir will lead #EIEFall2014 in song at Majdanek. The song is Afar Veavak, Ashes and Dust, written by a young man about his Survivor moms trip back to Europe.
