Absolutely top game of Warzone with Mark Bonatti this afternoon. I fielded a small, elite Bauhaus force (Steiner, 2 squads Rangers, 1 squads Etoiles, Vulkan) against his troops heavy Legion army (Golgotha, 2 squads undead, 2 squads necromutants, 3 praetorian stalkers). Max Steiner rocked out with his Dethlokdrum out and the Rangers were frighteningly efficient. They forted up in a bunker, called down artillery strikes and sniped a good dozen zombies and necromutants, then manfully held off and annihilated a rapid deploying praetorian stalker hit squad. Max personally perforated the Stalker with a hindenberg by dint of a sentry action. Bonatti had sadface. The Vulkan proved extremely tough too and despite getting hammered by flamers the Etoile Mortants nearly did for Golgs. Come the end of the game, I managed to whittle Mark down to Golgotha, on her final wound, locked in melee with the Vulkan as the Rangers retrieved the primary objective supply tokens. The rest of the Dark Legion were cut down. Id lost 2 Rangers, the Etoiles Mortants and had a few dings on the Vulkan. There were a few points the game could have gone either way. The Vulkan was on its last point of engine structure and could have gone down to a single well placed shot. The Etoiles only narrowly managed to survive being wiped due to an eye for an eye card played by the Legion, even then they were decimated and what could have been a lethal ambush became a suicidal rush on Golgotha. Bonatti did manage to get into position to win the primary objective but just couldnt put down the Rangers covering the tokens - the artillery strikes had weakened his squads too much and the accuracy of the Rangers meant the Legion attrition was too high. Great game and lessons learned. Bauhaus are superb at what they do and Rangers are fantastic at holding buildings, especially once you start stacking equipment cards on them. Mark will likely be more diligent about dispersing his deployment as I punished him early with artillery while he was clustered and he paid dearly for it. Letting me have a board edge where he couldnt deny my infiltrators the fortified high ground with his deployment also cost him. Cannot wait to try more Bauhaus games. Will try out the Hussars and Juggernauts next.
