Abstract: In my segment in this two-part documentary, I argue that EDSAs problems are indicative of broader social issues. Through participant observation and key informant interviews, I illustrate how infrastructure developments undermine the space for subaltern counterpublics. I make reference to Tadiars flyover metaphor to make sense of social inequality and challenge viewers to see the 23 km avenue as a site of struggle to reclaim the dignity in the city and fight for urban justice. In the spirit of performative reflexivity, I acknowledge my authorial voice may have been compromised by technologies of mediation. I therefore appeal to my epistemic community to be charitable when interpreting my stiff behaviour in front of the camera. EDSA: The Full Story. 8pm tonight at 9TV Philippines.
