Abuse? Those who know me know I have a temper. That said my father told me if I ever hit a woman he would travel to whip my ass. I never have, never will! All the headlines about NFL players charged with domestic and child abuse avoid the real truth. It happens everyday, everywhere. Because the victims are not celebrity or in the public eye little is said or done. No one is witness? Bullshit!! Someone ALWAYS is a witness but they do not speak up. Personality development theory tell us we are a product of our environment. The result of abusive upbringing should not surprise us when it occurs in the next generation . My beloved grandmother would make get a limb from the mimosa tree in our front yard and bring it to her to use on me. I was more ashamed than hurt. My grandmother was only using that which had been imprinted in her development. I can only recall a very few number of times that I ever spanked my daughter. I learned that my lectures proved to be more punishment (complete with her eye rolling) than any corporal application. She grew up fine and is the proud mother of my two grandchildren. So there it is. The cycle must be broken. Punishment? It is a lot like judging a DWI case. The due process systems can not use the there but by the grace of God go I logic by which to adjudicate proper punishment. We are not judging the jury members we are the judging person charged with the abuse at this particular time!! If you are guilty you are guilty and should be punished. Of course we will need a lot larger jail capacity. I am proud to have a niece whose lifelong career has been to help and protect those who have no voice. She brings honor, integrity and pride to our family! We love her. So the next time you are in an emergency room and some woman, man or child is being released back into the care of the person who probably did the abuse think about what awaits these victims when they return home. It hasnt been that long since another NFL star/ celebrity reached the top of the abuse mountain and was charged with the murder of his wife and friend. Did he do it? I dont know. But police records do witness a multiple domestic violence calls. If his celebrity status and reputation had been challenged then maybe it would not have climaxed in tragedy. There, es todo.
