Accessible Activism - Im looking for people that are able-bodied, - TopicsExpress

Accessible Activism - Im looking for people that are able-bodied, or predominantly identify as such, to work together on calling activist spaces throughout the US (broad definition: infoshops, workers centers, anarcho and communist spaces, radical bookstores, interfaith organizing spaces, etc.) to see if these spaces are fully or partially or not at all accessible for people with disabilities. I specify able-bodied because Id like this to be an eye - opening experience for those with that privilege but are engaged in activism. This group would heavily consult with various PWDs throughout the process but the gathering information and spreading what info we find through radical news sources, listservs, perhaps a zine/essay would be done by the aforementioned volunteers. Im hoping to do this over the next year. I would like this to include asking spaces that are accessible if they started that way or renovated, and other things along those lines. Asking what materials are in large print or braille, if their hotlines have TTY, if they consisted visual impairments when developing their websites, listservs, if they have sign language interpreters, if they do image descriptions on their social media photo/meme/ads. Activists know this is an issue but Im hoping this can start a larger dialog amongst many organizations about making these movements accessible overall and ending the segregation within. I truly welcome all feedback on this idea and tagging of friends/comrades is appreciated. Solidarity.
