Accomack County, Virginia resident Blackstone Drummond Ayres receives a writeup today. Mr Ayres was for many years a prominent Accomack County attorney, practicing for six decades. He was a veteran of the First World War and in 1927 was elected to the Virginia State House of Delegates, serving in the session of 1928-1930. Ayres later served as the president of the Virginia State Bar Association from 1952-1953. Ayres died at age 87 in 1984 and was survived by his wife Nelly, who died in March 2006, a few days after her 100th birthday.
